Surgery Scheduling Coordinator

The Spine Institute of Louisiana has an immediate opening for an experienced Surgery Scheduler.

The successful candidate should have an understanding of hospital Operating Room dynamics; block times, instrumentation and equipment requirements, flip rooms, etc.

This staff member will primarily be responsible for the strategic scheduling of surgeries for this busy and growing practice. Room maximization and optimal case scheduling will be a part of this team member's daily routine. Additional duties will include precertification of surgeries, setting up pre-op appointments and coordinating with the hospitals on paperwork needed.

To be seriously considered, you MUST have had previous surgery scheduling experience, preferably in neuro/spine, an understanding of hospital protocol, knowledge of insurance benefits and excellent communication skills as this position interacts daily with physicians, physician extenders, other physician offices, patients, instrument reps, and hospital staff members.

The level of accuracy necessitated by this position requires an individual that is mature, detail oriented, organized, and extremely conscientious and responsible. Must also have a consistent level of high energy, excel at multi-tasking, have high computer literacy, strong people skills, a solid work ethic, and the judgment, professionalism, and discretion necessary to routinely interact with patients and other healthcare professionals in a hectic and fast-paced environment.

Experience with Next Gen preferred, Word, Outlook, and Excel software mandatory. A Bachelor's degree in a Science curriculum is preferred. LPNs/RNs are welcome to apply.

Physician Extender
The Spine Institute of Louisiana is seeking a physician extender to add to its team of clinical professionals.  This practitioner will work directly with the Spine Institute’s newest Neurosurgeon/Spine surgeon, who will be joining our practice in September 2009.  The extenders at the Spine Institute of Louisiana act as an extension of the physician, working side by side with the physician in both the clinic and surgery settings.

Responsibilities include:

• First assist (neurosurgery & spine cases)
• Hospital rounds
• Initial evaluations 
• injections 
• Pre-op and Post-op H&P’s 
• Prescriptions 
• Coordinate with Physical Therapist and ATC’s 
• Ordering tests and evaluate X-Ray, CT scan and MRI 
• Seeing Patients in Clinic and Ultimately Running a Clinic Independent of Physician 

The position averages 45 hours per week with minimal weekends and  evenings. Call is 1/4.  Successful candidate should be NCCPA-certified/eligible.  New graduates are welcomed to apply.  The location is in Shreveport, Louisiana, a southern city with magnet programs in the public schools as well as 3 magnet elementary schools, a magnet middle school and high school, several universities local or nearby (LSU-S, Centenary College, Louisiana Tech, Grambling, and ULN), a metro airport, affordable housing, wide variety of outdoor activities, culture and cuisine, and a very reasonable cost of living.

Appointment Scheduler
The Spine Institute of Louisiana is looking for a motivated, highly energetic individual to join our team of professionals. The successful applicant will be organized, have strong computer skills, the ability to multi-task, strong people skills, a solid work ethic and the diplomacy and professionalism to deal with patients and other healthcare professionals. Experience with Next Gen software desired. Applicant must have 3+ years of physician office experience. Duties may include: answering telephone, greeting and scheduling patients, checking out patients, scanning documents, making appointments, verifying insurance, scheduling procedures, and networking with hospitals and other physicians’ offices.
