Dr. Austin W. Gleason is an orthopedic specialist in the non-surgical treatment of spine disorders and occupational medicine.  He has more than 30 years of experience in the field of orthopedics and spinal surgery. and was one of the founding members of Orthopedic Specialists of Louisiana.  Dr. Gleason was also the first orthopedic/spine surgeon in the Ark-La-Tex to use interbody cages for use in disc space, which provided a new technique allowing the spine to be fused with much less post operative discomfort.

Dr. Gleason has completed impairment rating and skills assessment course work sponsored by the American Academy of Disability Evaluating Physicians in Dallas; receiving specialized training in the evaluation of disabilities and impairments for workers compensation injuries in the states of Louisiana, Texas, and Arkansas.

He completed his medical education at the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans; and residency and graduate training at the LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport.  In addition to private practice, Dr. Gleason has been a clinical instructor at the LSU Health Sciences Center post graduate medical school.

His interests and hobbies outside of the Spine Institute include travel to exotic places to include Hong Kong, South America and Hawaii, hunting, and skiing.  Dr. Gleason is married to George Anna Powell Gleason and has two sons, Stuart and Griff.
